The Non Professional Swiss Romande Americain Football League (NSFL) is a Swiss American football league, formed in 2004 as a regional league in addition to the Schweizerischer America Football Verband (SAFV). It is based in Lausanne. ==History== In 1982 Cursio Caravati and Massimo Monti created the SFL (Swiss Football League). The first team was the Lugano Seagulls.〔(The Game Is American, but the View, Alpine ) ''The New York Times'', 14 April 2012, accessed: 6 December 2013〕 , only one national federation is recognised by the European Federation of American Football: the Schweizerischer America Football Verband (SAFV), which is divided into two leagues: a national A league (LNA) and a national B league (LNB). A national championship for juniors also exists. There are only 11 SAFV clubs (5 in LNA and 6 in LNB). he NSFL was created as a regional league in 2004. 6 teams took part during the first season in 2005; in 2006 two new teams joined the league. The SAFV at the moment refuse to any discussions with the NSFL. The NSFL has in the past met with the SAFV, and have made changes in response to SAFV requests, but more recently the SAFV has refused to meet with the NSFL. The NSFL in no way wishes to replace the SAFV. The NSFL is working on a more regional level. The different NSFL tournaments put in place do not forbid NSFL teams from participating in the National Championship (SAFV). This is the case for the Fribourg Cardinals (LNB) and the Geneva Seahawks (LNA).
